This year, the number of deaths that occurred in April was also lower than that recorded in March (1,604 fewer deaths; -15.2%), according to INE.
The number of deaths due to Covid-19 dropped to 147 (49 less than in March), representing 1.6% of total deaths. Compared to April 2022, there was a reduction of 448 deaths due to the virus that led to a pandemic.
In terms of births, INE registered 6,994 live births in March 2023, 4.2% more than in the same month of the previous year (6,715 children).
“The total number of live births registered in the first three months of 2023 (20,385) was higher than that seen in the same period of 2022 (19,342), representing over 1,043 live births (+5.4%)”, says the Institute in the Highlight published today.
According to the same source, last March, the natural balance stood at -3,535, “relieving itself compared to the same month of 2022,” when it was -4,085.
“In the first three months of 2023, the accumulated value of the natural balance was -12,885”, also showing a reduction in relation to that observed in the same period of 2022 (-13,849), added INE.
