Speaking to the Lusa agency, Paulo Machado, from the Federation of Transport and Communications Unions (FECTRANS), justified the suspension of the strike due to the “significant steps” that were taken in the negotiation with the Lisbon Metro.

"Significant steps were taken in the negotiation itself, with some commitments to the matters that were on the table", he said.

For its part, in a statement, Metropolitano de Lisboa “informs that the strikes scheduled for the 18th, 23rd and 30th of May have been suspended, after a very significant dialogue effort made by both Metropolitano de Lisboa and by trade union associations”.
