Portimão council highlighted the importance of having the two medium "Fireboss" aircraft in the municipality and indicated that the two aerial means of combating rural fires have been able to operate since the 1st.

The logistical support of the Algarve municipality “ensures all the conditions for these special aircraft to operate for the first time in the Algarve” and “increases the response capacity of the Special Device for Combating Rural Fires (DECIR), in particular in fires that are not remedied in the initial phase”, explained Portimão council in a statement.

The same source guaranteed that the two aircraft will operate “in full harmony with the other activities taking place in this aeronautical infrastructure”, such as the “regular air route that crosses the country daily” and connects the south to the north of Portugal or “parachuting, which has already become an important element of tourism in the Algarve”.
