According to a port by Ocean Vibes on Facebook, “the animals swam really close to the beach – and at some point with as little as 2.5m depth!!”.

The post added: “The pod is NOT INTERACTING with boats. Sailors should be calm and avoid doing non-sense things such as throwing fire crackers”.

Orca incidents with boats have been on the rise off the Iberian coast, with 200 interactions between orcas and boats recorded in 2022.
