“Historically linked to cycling and the Tour of Portugal for many years, the municipality of Loulé will re-enter the competition this year. After 20 years of absence, the city will stage the end of the third and longest stage”, according to the race organisers.

Loulé first appeared on the Volta route in 1935. The last presence in the race took place in 2003. In total, the city hosted 41 stage finishes and saw the peloton depart on 33 occasions.

The 84th edition of the Tour kicks off on the 9th of August, with a prologue in Viseu, and ends on the 20th of August, in Viana do Castelo.
