Casago put together a list of the ten top tourist destinations from 100 different countries on TripAdvisor. Then using Instagram and facial recognition technology produced a ‘happiness’ rating from 0-100 and of those results ranked the most popular tourist destinations in the world.
The results were that the Castelo de S. Jorge placed 4th in Europe behind the likes of the Cliffs of Mohar in Ireland and Our Saviours Church in Denmark.
Castelo de S. Jorge is a historic castle overlooking Lisbon from a hill that saw many fortifications occupied by the Romans, Moors, Phoenicians, and Carthaginians eventually being conquered by the Portuguese in 1147. Human occupation dates back all the way to the 8th century BC. This castle brings two million visitors a year, and many of them with smiles as the Casago reported.

... and the buildings on the hill in front of our wonderful "Castelo de São Jorge" continue to grow in height, off-style and/or ugliness! Soon they will completely obfuscate and belittle Lisbon's most majestic monumental jewel! And, now that I am at it, note that the green belt or buffer around the Castle needs improvement! But who cares? Apparently, not the current governments or not enough!
