Numerous musical performers will perform on the two stages of the holistic event, formerly known as the Healing Bridges event, including Liam “Maonla,” the traditional folk group Kla, the New York rock band The Prodigals, and the heavy folk band Bog Bodies from Tipperary.
The three-day festival, now in its second year, promises unlimited family fun with dance, cuisine, workshops, art, yoga, storytelling, plant foraging, food stalls, and much more. It also strives to encourage joy and celebration in an alcohol-free manner.
'Drummany Spirit,' a family farm and spiritual retreat outside of Milltown, Co. Cavan, is where organic farmer Gearóid Teevan, who also established the event, first took root. Teevan, 52, attributes his ability to stay sober after a terrible alcohol addiction to his love of nature and sense of place.
Teevan gave the following explanation for why he founded this festival: “I have been sober for 13 years now, and working these lovely fields keeps me grounded. I wanted everyone to be able to hear the heartbeat that the lakes and the woods have of their own. Reconnecting with nature can be immensely restorative, and music is a great way to bring people of all ages together.”
This year, from August 4th to the 6th, the Healing Spirit Festival will return to the heart of Cavan's Lakelands for the Lughnasadh bank holiday weekend.
