In its first list devoted exclusively to Europe, the QS World University Rankings included 688 institutions from all over the continent.
Trinity was joined in the top 100 by University College Dublin (jointly ranked 71st), University of Galway (98th), and Queen's University Belfast (70th).
The QS World University Rankings for 2024 previously ranked TCD as the 81st best university in the world.
Seven of the top 10 institutions were from the UK, giving the University of Oxford the top spot in the European rankings. Switzerland's ETH Zurich came in second.
University of Cambridge (UK), Imperial College London (UK), University of Edinburgh (UK), Université PSL (France), University of Manchester (UK), EPFL (Switzerland), and King's College London (UK) made up the remaining top 10.
109th place University College Cork was just outside the top 100, while 152nd place was shared by Dublin City University and University of Limerick.
Maynooth University came in at 311th, while Technological University Dublin came in at 286th.
