In a statement, ASAE explains that, in the historic area of the city of Lisbon, "notification was issued to close an AL establishment due to lack of registration (RNAL), non-compliance with safety rules, lack of mandatory insurance and hygiene conditions".

There were around 10 people staying in the aforementioned accommodation carrying out illegal activities, according to the authority, which carried out these operations in Lisbon, with the support of the Public Security Police (PSP).

It was also decided to suspend the activity of two AL establishments, one in Lisbon and the other in Portimão, "due to non-compliance with safety rules and lack of mandatory insurance, as well as the existence of a risk to the health and safety of the people accommodated due to non-compliance with existing hygiene and structural conditions".

In fact, “the presence of pests was also found in one of these establishments”.

In response to the Lusa agency, this criminal police body stated that, in Portimão, only the establishment that was suspended was inspected, as it was a complex case "due to the existence of a serious pest situation".

"In Lisbon, 12 local accommodation establishments were inspected", said ASAE, noting that the actions carried out in the capital had the collaboration of the Public Security Police (PSP).

"ASAE will continue to develop inspection actions, within the scope of its powers, throughout the national territory, in favour of healthy and fair competition between economic operators, safeguarding consumer safety and verifying compliance with current regulations", concludes the statement.

The ASAE inspection operation was carried out through the Specialized Brigade of Tourist Enterprises and Local Accommodation of the Southern Regional Unit, with the aim of verifying compliance with the rules to which they are subject, "considering the high number of this type of accommodation ".
