The DGS seasonal vaccination report, which covers the period between September 29 of last year and February 11, indicates that 2,475,279 people were vaccinated against the flu and 1,968,444 with the seasonal booster against Covid-19.

Vaccination coverage against influenza among those over 60 years of age is 65.95% and between 60 and 69 years of age it does not exceed 51.88%. The World Health Organization recommends 75% coverage for people over 65 years of age.

Pharmacies have so far administered more than 70% of flu vaccines and more than 69% of the seasonal booster against Covid-19.

The DGS reduced the age eligible for the flu vaccine to 50 years old and the director general has already admitted that it can reduce it even further and cover people aged 45 and over. However, they stressed that the current priority continues to be the vaccination of citizens aged 60 and over.
