Do you suffer from allergies and live in the regions of Lisbon and Setúbal, Alentejo, or Trás-Os-Montes and Alto Douro? According to the Portuguese Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (SPAIC), pollen levels will be very high in these areas until at least Thursday, February 22.

In the Lisbon and Setúbal region, pollen grains from cypress and alder trees, as well as grasses and nettles, will predominate in the atmosphere.

The Alentejo region will also see the presence of pollen from cypress and alder trees, grassy herbs and nettles, the alert also extends to cork oaks and holm oaks.

The concentration of pollen will be moderate in the Algarve, where there will be a greater intensity of pollen grains from the cypress tree.

According to SPAIC, you should avoid "carrying out outdoor activities when pollen concentrations are high", opting to keep the windows closed, both at home and in a car. Also, wear sunglasses and don't forget to take your prescribed medication.
