First, a baroque concert on St Patrick´s Day (Sunday 17th March) by two local musicians who use the name Ensemble Gli Accenti. Catarina Lemos e Melo on the harpsichord, and Romeu Madeira on the baroque violin will perform works by Albinoni, Handel, Telemann and Forqueray. These four composers were born within a fourteen year period in the seventeenth century. Strangely, Telemann is one of the few Baroque entries in the Guinness Book of World Records. The concert will begin at 16h00 at Quintinha da Música and directions and tickets at €25 are available from Peter on peterbooker1347@gmail.com

Our history presentation this month covers the history of the Industries of the Algarve. Following the February presentation on barrels, and their use in the export of fish, Peter takes the story further to cover fishing and its offshoot the canning industry. He will also touch on cork, dried fruit and salt, before moving on to the more modern railways, tourism and golf courses. Peter’s presentations will be in the municipal libraries of Lagoa on Tuesday 26th March at 18h00 and Tavira on Friday 5th April at 11h00.
