At issue is the fact that the annual CPLP residence permits, which began to be given in March 2023 (as part of the mobility agreement signed by Portugal), are not being renewed by AIMA, according to a report today from Diário de Notícias.
In response, AIMA states that these authorisations "continue to be accepted by all Portuguese public authorities, for all legal purposes, until June 30, 2024", within the framework of the decree-law that regulates the "Exceptional and temporary measures relating to the epidemiological situation of the new Coronavirus - COVID 19", the first version of which dates back to March 2020.
"Documents and visas relating to stay in national territory, whose validity expires from the date of entry into force of this decree-law or in the 15 days immediately preceding, are accepted, under the same terms, until June 30, 2024", refers to the most recent update of the diploma.
According to AIMA, "this rule applies to all residence permits that expired after February 22, 2020" and "CPLP residence permits were only created in 2023, therefore it applies to all those issued".
"Users with expiring residence permits are being informed of the extension of the validity period by email", said AIMA.
In previous statements to Lusa, several government officials had promised a solution for renewing these visas, but so far AIMA has not responded to the requests made.
Fantastic Fantastic Fantastic!!!!!!!!
A bit of breathing room. To try to sort things out for the AIMA..
I’m pretty sure the violin playing, and fellow racists will be dearly disappointed by this decision:):):)
I love PT and want to stay just got to find someone with a stamp!!

What about the renewal of the residency cards that have already been issued and are coming due for renewal. IRN does not have a process that works. It requires an appointment for a face-to-face meeting for the renewal. To date the online appointment system has been a complete and utter failure.
Reactivate the completely online residency renewal system that SEF used. It had quirks but at least it worked.

Class action.
If a rich dude with a golden visa can do it, and force the department, using Portuguese and European law to look at there case in a timely’ and expected manner’
Then we can do it.

When we had our SEF appointment in Sept 2023, we were told 90 business days we would have our TRC. Here we are 153 working days later, and not a word. I have attempted to call various numbers on the old SEF site, and the AIMA site, the AIMA number just presents a recorded message that is useless. I have also emailed multiple emails with no response at all (other than a bounce back of an incorrect email) directly from the SEF and AIMA sites.
I mean SEF/AIMA have our contact info, at the very least tell us things are delayed, or something is missing.
At this point, we can't leave the country for fear of not being able to come back. We can't get local employment, because we don't have an actual TRC, just the SEF receipt.
This article specifically says the Portuguese language country visas are extended but what about all the other visas that are also in limbo?

AIMA are still struggling to process visas. I am a visa holder, who has been trying to get an appointment to renew my visa for the past 3 months - it has been impossible to reach them!
Now with just one month to go, many people are waiting to hear if the 30th June extension date will be extended out even further to cater for people that are in visa limbo.
