The organisation has been without a principal sponsor for the men's division since December 2019, when mobile network operator Three announced that it will not be extending its 2010–2011 agreement.
According to the new agreement, Sky will support both teams during four significant tournament campaigns: the 2025 Women's European Championships, the 2026 World Cup, the 2027 Women's World Cup, and the 2028 European Championships. The sponsorship agreement will run through the end of 2028.
No financial information has been disclosed. Worth €8.9 million, Three's last agreement was extended in 2015.
Jonathan Hill, CEO of FAI, praised the announcement this morning.
"Sky has been a fantastic partner to the FAI for a number of years," he stated.
"Their groundbreaking partnership with our women’s national team has been a great success and they have helped to drive phenomenal growth in women and girl’s football in Ireland."
The decision, according to Sky Ireland CEO JD Buckley, was largely influenced by the significant advancements made since joining the FAI.
"Over the past two and a half years, we have enjoyed a fantastic partnership with our women's national team," he stated.
"We are thrilled and proud to announce the extension of that partnership and our brand-new primary partnership with the men’s national team."
