“Starting today, we will gradually see a change in the weather situation, which will be more significant on Sunday. Today is still a day with high temperatures, very similar to those recorded in previous days,” said the meteorologist from the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

According to Ângela Lourenço, a frontal system will gradually approach starting Saturday, bringing some weather changes with rain, stronger winds, and a drop in maximum temperatures.

"Sunday will already be a day with rain practically throughout the entire country. The frontal system will cross the territory from north to south, although it may be less pronounced in the Baixo Alentejo and Algarve regions," she said.

"With this situation, we will see a drop in temperatures, especially the maximum, on Sunday. Average temperatures could drop between 5 and 7 degrees Celsius here, with some areas in the northernmost regions experiencing drops of up to 9 degrees Celsius," she said, adding that minimum temperatures are not expected to change significantly.

The rain is expected to continue throughout the next week, but with fluctuations.

"There will be periods or days when precipitation is less likely and others when it may occur throughout the territory. The next week will be characterized by precipitation in the north and centre, but it will occasionally affect the southern region," she indicated.

At the end of next week, temperatures will be around 23/24 degrees and in the northern regions 19/20 degrees.
