In a statement, the PSP said that the “Polícia Semper Presente – Easter 2024” operation aims at road safety and crime prevention.

The PSP will also increase its presence in areas with the greatest influx of people, in historic and commercial areas, public transport terminals, tourist areas and nightlife areas.

During the Easter period, when there is a high number of trips to celebrate the festive season, the PSP will carry out preventive visibility and road inspection operations on access to the main roads.

“In these operations there will be a special focus on the main causes of accidents: speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol and/or psychotropic substances, using a cell phone while driving, and not using seat belts” , says the PSP.

The police appeal to families who are away from their homes to make sure they leave their doors and windows properly closed and locked.

“We also advise that, if you want to publicise these absences on social media, that you do so only after your return”.

In the note, the PSP also appeals to all drivers to drive safely, not to adopt behaviours that could reduce their driving abilities, such as speeding or under the influence of alcohol and/or psychotropic substances, and the cell phone use.

With regard to the acquisition and/or use of pyrotechnic items, PSP reminds you that you must always comply with legal requirements.

The PSP reminds you that the sale of pyrotechnic items is only permitted in establishments duly licensed by the PSP, and their online sale is not permitted.

“At the time of purchase, they must ensure that the product is duly certified, confirming that the packaging contains the inscription 'CE', and all safety distances and handling rules set out in the instructions must also be respected”, says the police.
