Access to the central massif of Serra da Estrela reopened at 8:00 am, according to a source from Civil Protection.

“At 8:00 am, sections 11 (Piornos-Torre), 12 (Torre–Torre) and 13 (Torre-Lagoa Comprida) were reopened”, said a source from the Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of Beiras and Serra da Estrela.
Access to the central massif of Serra da Estrela had been cut since 7:30 pm on Saturday due to snowfall.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) had placed the districts of Guarda and Castelo Branco under yellow warning yesterday due to snowfall.
