On May 2, these professionals will go on strike in the morning and afternoon shifts, according to a statement from the union structure.

On May 8th, the strike also covers the morning, afternoon and night shifts, while on May 9th it includes the night, morning and afternoon shifts.

The demands were presented to the board of directors of ULS do Algarve at the meeting held on February 19 and reinforced in a letter sent at the end of March, which received no response.

“On March 31, we sent a letter requesting an urgent meeting, setting the deadline of April 11 for us to receive the CA’s response to the demands. They did not respond”, explains the SEP.

The nurses reinforce that the ULS “made commitments to the nurses that they did not fulfil”, namely “not to discriminate based on the employment relationship, and for this reason they signed a report with the decision to pay in February 2019”, and “not to appeal court decisions favourable to the nurses”.

“They did not comply with either of them, preferring to maintain discrimination. It is unacceptable that in the Algarve Region, with the recognised difficulties in attracting and retaining nurses, this problem remains unresolved”, the union states.
