These five districts will remain under an orange warning until 6pm today, then will turn yellow until 6pm on Thursday due to persistently high maximum temperatures.

The IPMA also placed the district of Faro under a yellow warning due to hot weather until 6pm today and Viseu, Porto, Santarém, Viana do Castelo, Braga, Castelo Branco and Portalegre until 6pm on Thursday.

The IPMA predicts for today on the mainland, partly cloudy or clear skies, the possibility of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the interior North and Centre during the afternoon and sometimes strong winds on the western coastal strip.

Minimum temperatures will range between 16 degrees Celsius (in Braga and Viana do Castelo) and 23 (in Faro) and maximum temperatures between 24 (in Aveiro) and 41 (in Beja).
