In a statement, the ICNF announced that the operation was carried, in conjunction with the Sines Maritime Police (PM), and 19 people were stopped.

Contacted by Lusa news agency, a source from the Sines PM explained that the inspection took place on the beaches of Malhão and Aivados, in the parish of Vila Nova de Milfontes, municipality of Odemira, district of Beja.

The operation aimed to "dissuade camping, caravanning" and other forms of "overnight stays in the area" of the natural park, particularly on the coastline, and involved the participation of four nature wardens and two police officers, supported by two vehicles, the ICNF said.
