Today marks the start of the 44th Lagoa Crafts, Tourism, Agriculture, Commerce, and Industry Fair (FATACIL).
The fair will run until August 31st, bringing plenty of excitement, some new features, and the best the country has to offer.
FATACIL is a fair that needs no introduction, and is the largest fair south of the Tagus River, with one of the greatest showcases of the best the country has to offer. With over 700 exhibitors from a wide variety of fields, FATACIL also hosts many artists, with a strong focus on street entertainment, musical performances, large concerts, and equestrian shows.
Entertainment will be offered on the Lagoa Stage, the Algarve Stage, the FATACIL Stage, in the riding arena, and throughout the venue, featuring street entertainment and dance performances by the Folklore Groups.
New features
One of the new features will be a strong focus on shows on the Algarve Stage, where a DJ will perform at sunset in the late afternoon at 6:00 PM. There will be more music on the same stage at 8:30 PM, and a "Fora D'Horas" show at midnight. Another new development is the transformation of the Lagoa Stage into a more intimate music venue, where visitors can enjoy a family dinner while listening to excellent music, from Fado to Cantares to the accordion. At FATACIL Equestre, in the riding arena, you'll find a wide range of daily programming, starting at 6:00 PM, and one of the highlights of the evening, starting at 9:00 PM, with shows featuring renowned guest riders. Every day, there will be a major show on the main stage, the FATACIL Stage, starting at 10:30 pm, featuring some of today's best Portuguese musicians. The exception will be Saturday, August 23, when the M80 Party will begin at 9:30 pm.
Another new feature of this edition is the participation of the Portuguese Army Paratroopers, Os Falcões Negros, in the fair's inauguration with a freefall jump. Another new feature will be the return of the Hot Air Balloon to FATACIL, where visitors will have the opportunity to go up in the balloon and enjoy a unique view of the fairgrounds on the 29th, 30th, and 31st. Furthermore, the National Republican Guard, a regular presence at FATACIL, will hold canine demonstrations near the main entrance to the fairgrounds, between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM, on the 22nd, 26th, and 31st.
Food and drink
This year, the Lagoa City Hall has chosen to concentrate all catering in just two areas of the fairgrounds, both near the Lagoa Stage and the Algarve Stage. The only exception will be the restaurant that will support the arena.
Tickets can be purchased through the BOL online ticket office at fatacil.bol.pt, at CTT, Fnac, Worten, Balcão Único, and at local ticket offices at the fairgrounds between 6:00 PM and midnight during the fair. The exception is the ticket office located in the arena area, next to the fairgrounds, which will also be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 3:00 PM.
Daily admission costs 5 euros, a family pass costs 16 euros, and a 10-day pass costs 30 euros. Children up to and including 12 years old are free upon presentation of their Citizen Card. Doors open at 6 p.m. and close at 1 a.m. daily.
To avoid lines at the local box office, the Municipality and the FATACIL Organization recommend purchasing tickets in advance at fatacil.bol.pt.
