According to the analysis, "for the months of October and November, the anomaly is 0.5 to 1.0°C, decreasing to 0.25 to 0.5°C in December."

Experts say these above-average values are not only seen in mainland Portugal, but also on the islands: "For Madeira, the forecast anomaly is 0.25 to 0.5°C in the three months of the forecast, and for the Azores, the anomaly is 0.25 to 0.5°C in October and November, increasing to 0.5 to 1.0°C in December."

The IPMA also details that, although a positive anomaly is forecast for monthly air temperature, an anomaly with no significant signal is forecast for total monthly precipitation.

"In terms of total monthly precipitation, the forecast is a negative anomaly for November and December, -10 to -5 mm, for the North and Central regions," the experts begin, adding that "for October, there is no significant signal over mainland Portugal."

"For the Madeira and Azores archipelagos, it is not possible to identify the existence of a statistically significant signal throughout the forecast period, with the exception of the Western Group of the Azores in December, for which a negative anomaly, -10 to -5 mm, is forecast," they add.
