The proceeds will be donated to APAA’s favourite pastime, SNiP (Spaying and Neutering Programme) for feral cat colonies and abandoned animals. Amongst the charities they help in their quest for saving the Algarve’s four-pawed-friends are also small shelters who are in need of help from time to time.

Jenny, their President, has seen a lot of smiling faces. “We do try and be fair at all times. But we have purse-strings to tighten as well. There is never a magic mirror for any of us to tell the future, or whether we have made a bad ‘call’ for whatever reason. Sometimes it is all in a split-second gut reaction situation.”

Their recent rescue of ‘Pinha’ and her siblings from Silves meant that one of the pups has already been re-homed, happily ensconced in a farm in the Alentejo with a watchful grandma. “She insisted the pup had a warm bed in the kitchen.” Jenny beams. Where she can keep an ever-watchful eye, no doubt. “The others are now at ‘Puppyland’ and they are gorgeous!”

Working hard to keep the membership happy, the team APAA are looking for new places for pop-up shops, events and any new ideas. “Indeed, we need new faces and new blood! The past couple of years have seen a healthy growth in our membership, all for the right reasons!” Jenny and her team always ready to listen to what you the members or the public have to say and any help that can be given always gratefully received. “We are making sure the proceeds of all our events are shared amongst the community’s needs.”

Aid to private homes always given a large consideration and their motto ‘Here to Help’ is their strength. “We try not to let any animal suffer or go without if we can help it.” Sorted. “We would ask you to check out information here and facebook keep up-to-date our events and news.”
