His administration pursued an aggressive policy agenda focused on immigration enforcement, deregulation, trade protectionism through tariffs, federal spending cuts, reshaping federal agencies and curbing the worst excesses of transgender treatments.
The U.S. economy recorded its fastest growth in two years in the third quarter of 2025, with GDP expanding by around 4.3% - beating expectations and showing resilient consumer and government spending. Growth was supported by sectors such as healthcare, travel, and technology. AI continued to expand rapidly in many industries, and in particular, retail, healthcare, and computing.
Despite a booming economy, low unemployment, wage growth, and declining inflation, President Trump is seen as a deeply controversial figure inspiring both positive and negative opinions. He sees himself as “A President of Peace”. It has been stated that (apart from Jimmy Carter) he is the only President not to have started a war in 72 years and it seems true, as President Trump has not formally declared war. There have, however, been coordinated air strikes with the latest being in December in Nigeria against Islamic militants with assistance from Nigerian Intelligence. Saying that, the U.S. has played a central role in negotiating ceasefires in the Gaza situation and road mapping potential peace plans in Ukraine.
What to expect in 2026?
Midterm elections take place in November and are often seen as a referendum on the sitting President that may result in a shift in Congressional control.
The economy is forecasting GDP growth between 1.8%-2.2% range, although some forecasters are more optimistic due to fiscal stimulus and tax changes that may boost growth further. So, nothing spectacular, yet still positive.
Foreign policy is expected to continue to focus on China, specifically trade (more or less tariffs?), technology and Taiwan, Ukraine/Russia peace talks and Middle East instability. NATO budget sharing will probably continue to be debated.
Technology and innovation growth will continue, especially with AI, biotech and space investment. Infrastructure enhancements are planned throughout the USA for 2026 in areas such as airports, rail and highways with funding shifts both at the state and federal levels.
Finally, the Football (or Soccer) World Cup is being co-hosted in June and July 2026 with Canada and Mexico, although the majority of matches (78 out of 104) will be held inthe USA.

Twenty-one of former U:S. presidents have returned to the White House for a second consecutive term. Mr. D.T. is the second of only two who have been re-elected for a second non-consecutive term.

Air strikes by themselves are not war. Besides, plenty of Democrat presidents engaged in warfare against international opponents without Congressional approval despite current Democrat bleating. The position of Democrats and most of Europe's political elites in fact is that any foreign opponent of Trump is a great guy and should not be interfered with. This is due to the strange European bias towards anything resembling socialism relative to free enterprise capitalism.
