According to data from the National Health Service Portal, consulted by Lusa, on Saturday, the emergency rooms for these specialities will be closed at the Infante Dom Pedro Hospital in Aveiro and at the São Bernardo Hospital in Setúbal.
On Sunday, the Gynaecology emergency room at Vila Franca de Xira Hospital, as well as the Gynaecology and Obstetrics emergency services at São Bernardo Hospital in Setúbal and Nossa Senhora do Rosário Hospital in Barreiro, will be closed.
Over the weekend, three Pediatric emergency rooms will be restricted to receiving only cases referred by the Urgent Patient Guidance Centre (CODU) of the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) and internal emergencies.
At Vila Franca de Xira Hospital, the emergency room will be reserved for these cases 24 hours a day. At Beatriz Ângelo Hospital in Loures, the Pediatric emergency room will be restricted from midnight to 9 am and from 9 pm to midnight. At Santa Maria Maior Hospital in Barcelos, the Pediatric emergency room will be restricted from midnight to 8 am and from 10 pm to midnight.
According to the schedules, updated by the hospitals, the Gynaecology and Obstetrics emergency rooms at Santo André Hospital, in Leiria, will also be restricted over the weekend, attending only cases referred by INEM and internal emergencies.
On Saturday, there are also restrictions in these specialities at the São Francisco Xavier Hospital in Lisbon, between midnight and 8 pm, at the Vila Franca de Xira Hospital, between midnight and 9 am, at the Amadora-Sintra Hospital, between 8 am and midnight, and in the Obstetrics emergency room of the Santarém District Hospital, between midnight and 8:30 am.
The schedules available on the SNS portal indicate that approximately 128 emergency services will be open nationwide over the weekend, in addition to 35 Gynaecology and Obstetrics services operating as part of the pilot project, which requires users to contact the SNS 24 hotline in advance.
The constraints on emergency services are primarily due to a shortage of specialist doctors to cover shifts, and the difficulties have been more pronounced in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley.
Health authorities are urging the public to contact the SNS24 hotline (808 24 24 24) before going to the emergency room to receive appropriate guidance
