The promotional cycle begins on 17 January with participation in BOOT – Boat Show & Watersports Exhibition, which runs in Düsseldorf until 25 January. Considered one of the world's largest fairs dedicated to boating and diving, this presence aims to reinforce Portimão’s positioning as a destination linked to the sea, in a regional representation under the aegis of the Algarve Tourism Association (ATA).
Also in January, the municipality will be part of FITUR in Madrid, from the 21st to the 25th, in a joint action with nine Algarve municipalities, in partnership with the Albufeira Promotion Agency. This unprecedented initiative focuses on the integrated promotion of the Algarve under a common brand, reinforcing inter-municipal cooperation as a strategy for tourism promotion.
Between 25 February and 1 March, Portimão will be present at BTL – Better Tourism Lisbon Travel Market, in Lisbon. With over 1,500 exhibitors and a diverse programme, the fair is a strategic platform for promoting the municipality's activities throughout the year. In 2026, the Algarve will assume the status of National Guest Destination, boosting Portimão's visibility at the main tourism fair held in Portugal.
In March, the municipality will once again focus on the Spanish market by participating in FINE – Wine Tourism Expo, a wine tourism event.
As part of the “Algarve Golden Terroir” brand, Portimão will participate in a joint initiative to promote the region, highlighting its wine offerings and planned 2026 wine tourism experiences, at an event geared toward professional contacts and business opportunities.
Also in March, between 20 and 22 March, Portimão will be present at B-Travel in Barcelona, through Turismo do Algarve, to strengthen its connection with the Catalan market and boost tourist flows associated with direct flights between Faro and Barcelona.
The international promotion strategy continues in May with participation in Expovacaciones in Bilbao, an exhibition that showcases Portimão’s tourism offering, with a special focus on complementary and developing products to help reduce seasonality and attract new source markets.
The calendar closes in September with attendance at the Southampton Boat Show in the United Kingdom. At this leading European event, Portimão will reinforce its position as a nautical destination by promoting the Portimão Nautical Station and the quality of its infrastructure and services, as part of a regional representation of the Algarve’s nautical stations, also coordinated by the ATA.
With this commitment to international promotion, the municipality continues to develop its tourism model, complementing the traditional ‘sun and beach’ product with areas such as nautical tourism, wine tourism, events and unique experiences throughout the year.
