In the second round of the presidential elections, the former secretary-general of the Socialist Party reached 3,477,717 votes with 21 parishes and eight consulates still to be counted, according to data from the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Internal Administration.

Until today, Mário Soares, in his re-election in 1991, had been the President of the Republic elected with the highest number of votes (3,459,521 out of more than eight million voters) and the highest percentage (70.35%).

Of the more than 11 million registered voters in these presidential elections, more than 3.5 million voted for Seguro, with André Ventura obtaining more than 1.7 million votes, according to data from 10:15 pm, which pointed to an abstention rate of close to 50%.

With votes still to be counted, the new President of the Republic has a percentage of over 66%, while the leader of Chega exceeds 33%.
