In statements to Lusa, a source at the institution said all 21 members of the body were present at the meeting. The General Council is now awaiting the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, Fernando Alexandre, to approve the date for the inauguration ceremony. The request for approval was submitted immediately after the meeting concluded, and the Council is expecting a response within the coming days.

When contacted by Lusa, the president-elect said he would comment on his election later.

On 2 April, during his candidacy, he told Lusa that, if elected, he intended to conduct a financial and legal audit of the institute, publish a report on its current situation, and normalise internal organisational relations.

Aldo Passarinho holds a PhD in Arts and Education from the University of Barcelona (Spain) and teaches in the Department of Arts, Humanities and Sports at IPBeja.

The former vice-president now replaces the current president, Maria de Fátima Carvalho, who did not seek re-election.

The voting members for the election of the IPBeja presidency are 11 professors, 3 students, 1 non-teaching staff member, and 6 co-opted members.
