According to information available on the IPMA website, Silves, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, and Tavira are at the highest risk of rural fires, and another 10 municipalities in the Faro district are at very high or high risk.

Several municipalities in the districts of Évora, Beja, Santarém, Leiria, Coimbra, Lisbon, Guarda, Portalegre, Viseu, Porto, Viana do Castelo, Vila Real, and Bragança present a very high and high risk of fire.

According to the institute, the risk of rural fire will remain high in some regions at least until 5 June due to the hot weather.

This risk, determined by the IPMA, has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum. The calculations are based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and precipitation over the last 24 hours.

High temperatures in the Algarve

The Faro district is under a yellow warning on June 1st due to persistent high maximum temperatures, announced the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

In a statement, the IPMA said that the alert is valid until 9 pm on 1 June, due to the "persistence of high maximum temperature values".

The forecast maximum temperature for today in Faro is 36 degrees, with a minimum of 22 degrees.
