The photovoltaic plant inaugurated in that municipality in the Porto district has an installed capacity of 28.37 megawatt-peak (MWp) and will allow an annual energy production of 43.68 gigawatt-hours (GWh), according to a statement from the independent energy producer BNZ.

This company also estimates that the new plant, which it says is the second-largest in Northern Portugal, will prevent the emission of more than 4,890 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year.

In response to Lusa, the company revealed that the land where the plant was installed is private and that, before the installation of that equipment, “it was partially dedicated to agricultural crops” and that “the number of trees felled for the implementation of the project was limited”, without mentioning how many or their type.

According to BNZ, the total investment was approximately €24 million, and the Muro photovoltaic plant “will allow supplying around 4,500 homes in Portugal”.
