Formula One looks set to add more European races to the calendar with grands prix in Asia and the Americas likely to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Algarve circuit outside Portimão has once again been earmarked as a likely venue.

The current schedule features eight races, all in Europe, but the sport is hoping for a season of between 15 and 18 rounds.

A second race in Italy and Germany’s Hockenheim and Portugal’s Algarve circuit in Portimao are other likely possibilities.

Comments:

This is irrelevent today with the proposed manufacture of all electric vehicles in the next few years , and there will be a massive reduction in all tourism for events like this , and the events themselves could trigger spikes in Covid-19 across the world .
