"A family member has been alerted to the disappearance of a man and at this time the fire brigade and the GNR are on the spot searching to locate him," a source for the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) from Faro, told Lusa at around 11.30pm.
According to the same source, the warning was given at 1.21pm for the locality of Casas Velhas, in the municipality of Portimão.
There are 19 operational and 11 fire engines in Portimão and Monchique, in addition to the GNR.
