At issue is Annex I of Ordinance No. 207-A / 2020, of 28 August, of the Ministries of Environment and National Defense, which adjusts the calendar for the bathing season, especially on the north coast of the country.

According to the Annex, the sea beaches of Santo André (in Póvoa de Varzim, Porto), Tree, Sea and Sun, Olinda, Mindelo, Laderça, Congreira, Terra Nova, Vila Chã and Pocinho (in Vila do Conde, in district) are no longer qualified as bathing beaches in the period between 31 August and 13 September and assistance to bathers will not be guaranteed.

14 beaches in the district of Viana do Castelo remain in full operation until 13 September, distributed by Caminha and the county council, while in the district of Porto 59 beaches, divided by the municipalities of Porto, Póvoa de Varzim continue to be qualified for bathing. , Matosinhos, Vila do Conde and Vila Nova de Gaia.

Seven beaches are still qualified for bathing in Esposende, in the district of Braga, and six in Espinho, already in the district of Aveiro.

The Minister of Environment and Climate Action, João Pedro Matos Fernandes, had already said that he would extend the operation of bathing beaches, in response to requests from municipalities.
