UPDATE 2 AUGUST: 09:45 - Fire in conclusion - 89 Personnel | 27 vehicles | 0 Air support

The fire first began at 2.30pm in an area of scrubland in the parish of Tolosa.

Weather conditions are currently hampering fire fighting efforts at a time when Portugal’s civil protection agency has decided to extend a state of alert for the risk of fires until Monday because of the continuation of weather conditions favorable to the risk of wild fires.

Although extreme temperatures are not expected, some day and night heat is expected, with plenty of wind and low relative humidity, said Deputy Operational Commander Pedro Nunes.
