ADACE vice-president, António Costa Pinto, told Lusa that over the last two weeks dozens of dead fish floating (mullet and sea bass) have been found near the bridge of Rio Novo do Príncipe, in the place of Vilarinho, in parish of Cacia.

In addition to the presence of dead fish, which he recorded in images, the same official says he also observed the existence of schools of fish “with many difficulties in survival”.

The associative leader also said that the water has “brownish oil stains, similar to soap suds and dirtier than normal”, adding that some people have been collecting the fish, because they feel uncomfortable with the bad smell.

ADACE has already informed the GNR Nature and Environment Protection Service (SEPNA) of this case, having received information that the Portuguese Environment Agency will have already gone to the site to collect analyses.
