The media and social networks have reported clusters of people during weekends in northern coastal areas in breach of state of emergency rules.
"The PSP will be in those places attentive and active in order to prevent the occurrence of possible non-compliances, especially the general duty of recollection" in face of covid-19, warned the source, refusing to advance the number of police that the PSP will mobilize for operations in those three coastal municipalities in the district of Porto.
He only mentioned that it will be "considered appropriate".
Portugal fulfils the third period of 15 days of state of emergency, started on 19 March, and the presidential decree that extended the measure until 2 May provides for the possibility of a "gradual, phased or alternate opening of services, companies or commercial establishments".
On Thursday, 23 April, the municipalities of Matosinhos, Vila do Conde and Póvoa de Varzim registered, respectively, 929, 212 and 95 confirmed cases of contagion by the new coronavirus, according to data from the Directorate-General for Health.
