According to the numbers that were released, Portugal is going to take 400 refugees who are currently in Italy, 1,291 from Greece and 1,383 who reached Hungary.
Juncker said today "I propose today to distribute more than 120,000 people who are in Italy, Greece and Hungary and this has to be binding", Juncker said in a state of the union speech in the European parliament.
"There are 160,000 people who the Europeans must receive with open arms", he said, remembering that in May, Brussels had approved the distribution of 40,000 refugees among member states.
In May’s proposal, Portugal was to accept 1,701 people.
The distribution list is headed by Germany which is going to receive 31,443, followed by France with 24,031 and Spain with 14,931.
The numbers were calculated taking into consideration the population, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), how m any refugees the country already had in the past four years and unemployment.
