Firefighters are fighting a forest fire that broke out on Tuesday night, in the upper areas of the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, west of Funchal on Madeira.

According to the Regional Civil Protection Service, the fire started on Estrada da Corrida, in the parish of Jardim da Serra, and continues with two active fronts.

Two firefighting teams were mobilized to fight the fire - Volunteers from Câmara de Lobos and Madeirense Volunteers - and also from the Forest Police Corps.

"These elements are carrying out combat actions, as well as surveillance in places without access," said the Regional Civil Protection Service.
