GNR detained 396 people across the country last week

The National Republican Guard arrested 396 people during operations to combat crime and road surveillance carried out across the country between 2 and 9 July.

In a statement of the balance sheet of last week's operational activity, GNR highlights 153 arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol, 200 for driving without legal authorisation, 22 for drug trafficking, 10 for theft or robbery, eight for illegal possession of weapons, six for domestic violence, three for falsifying technical notations, two for holding prohibited weapons and one for forest fire.

Last week, the GNR seized 2,516 doses of hashish, 284 doses of heroin, 275 doses of cannabis oil, 117 doses of cocaine, 67 doses of cannabis, 20 cannabis plants, eight firearms, 11 bladed weapons, 101 ammunition of different calibres, three vehicles and 85 thousand cigarettes.

GNR also seized 2,691 kilograms of fish, 1,570 kilograms of bivalves and 900 Euros in cash.

Within the scope of traffic surveillance, GNR detected 7,928 infractions, 2,794 of which for speeding, 363 for using the mobile phone while driving, 347 related to anomalies in the lighting and signalling systems, 345 due to the lack or incorrect use of the seat belt or child restraint system and 303 for driving with a blood alcohol level higher than permitted by law.

This security force also registered 283 violations related to tachographs, 264 for lack of mandatory periodic inspection and 207 for lack of civil liability insurance.
