The case was denounced by the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions of Luxembourg (OGBL), a Luxembourg trade union.
"This correction will be made in a timely manner if we see that we are effectively dealing with a sum that is below the minimum wage in Luxembourg for doing her job," Augusto Santos Silva said in response to Lusa on 13 November.
The domestic worker was hired as part of a call for applications for "residence assistant" signed by ambassador António Gamito, with a gross monthly salary of €1,874.19.
Since 1 August this year, the minimum wage for unqualified people in Luxembourg is €2,048.54.
