Manuel Grilo, who is the Social Rights Councillor in the capital, said his mission is to find acceptable housing for the 361 homeless people known to officials.
In addition, there are close to 2,000 people who the councillor said make use of temporary facilities across Lisbon.
The plan, known as ‘Housing First’, is set to cost in the region of 4.3 million euros and will cover 30 separate projects in the next two years
This is a wonderful article on solving Portugals homless problem. I live in Detroit, Michigan and we have a big homeless problem here. But it could be solved over night if we had more affordable housing. Gentrification has come to town and we dont know if or when it will leave us.

@ Edward:
Gentrification is a process that has been going on for centuries, it's just been a label that people can hate.
As cities grow, of course you can't fit all the people in the same space. And of course the poorest get pushed outwards and/or to cities where living costs are lower.
If cities grew into the sky instead of outwards, people would probably complain that "because of gentrification, they now have to live below floor 100."

I am desperately trying to find a man named, Roland Dickson who is in Lisbon and I believe living in a homeless shelter. I had been helping him financially as best as I could up until the first part of March and since then I have not heard from him. I don't know if he is dead or alive or in a hospital somewhere. He is originally from Lisbon, but homeless. Can you help me try to find him???? If not, please tell me who I can turn to for help, PLEASE!!! Thank you.
