Lisbon council has been discussing the start of preparing the city by-laws regarding short-term rents, which the council expects to be approved by March.

The discussions have been taking place in private meetings with the government.
The city council said the regulation is due to the “increase in tourism and the growing scarcity of housing supply, which has particularly been seen in the city of Lisbon, with the consequent steep rise of rents and precariousness in housing.”
