On 31 May, Luxair returned to make flights to Faro airport. The company's first flight arrived in the Algarve with full capacity, with 141 passengers on board. Of these passengers, around 70 went to the hotels NAU Salgados Dunas Suites and NAU São Rafael Atlântico, in order to be able to enjoy in these units a scheduled vacation period, the result of a partnership between the NAU group and the tour operator of Luxair Tours.

In addition to the strict guidelines and restrictions imposed by the local authorities for national hospitality, LuxairTours carefully selected the hotels to be considered to receive the first Luxembourgish tourists to arrive in Portugal in this first wave, setting demanding standards to ensure the safety of its customers, with which the units of NAU Hotels & Resorts have demonstrated compliance.

Mário Ferreira, CEO of the NAU Hotels & Resorts group, says that “it is with great satisfaction that we welcome this first group of tourists from Luxembourg to our units. We prepare hotels and teams in advance to receive our guests with all health security, and provide them with an unforgettable experience in this new context of normality. The relationship between NAU Hotels & Resorts and Luxair is an old one, and we are honoured they have chosen our hotels to restart Luxair's operations in the Algarve”.

Tourists staying at the NAU Salgados Dunas Suites and NAU São Rafael Atlântico hotels will stay in the Algarve for a period of 7 to 14 nights.

With the resumption of international travel and tourism activity to restart, the hotel units are prepared to offer the experience of hospitality and excellence that is recognised worldwide, now with enhanced safety and hygiene measures and practices, meeting the strict criteria of the Clean & Safe certification, issued by Turismo de Portugal, but also, in some cases, to health protocols based on the best practices in the global hospitality industry, as in the NAU Hotels & Resorts group.

In this resumption of activity, all NAU units, which will gradually reopen over the next few weeks, have the “Clean & Safe” establishment certification, in addition to having adopted a post-Covid-19 Operational Protocol that includes the recommendations and best practices that have been disseminated by the World Health Organization, the General Directorate of Health, the European Union, business associations, international hotel chains, and other organisations.

Prior to the reopening of the NAU São Rafael Atlântico and NAU Salgados Dunas Suites hotels, deep cleaning, hygiene and disinfection actions were carried out, which will be replicated in all units of the group before reopening. After each stay, the units apply to each room, suite or apartment, a deep disinfection process, ventilation of spaces and a quarantine of 24 hours until it is occupied again. In this way, any stay, short or long, will always result in a block for one night of each accommodation unit.

In order to favour social distance in public areas, restaurants, swimming pools, and other infrastructures, the hotels of the NAU Hotels & Resorts group will have their occupancy limited to a maximum of 2/3 to 3/4 of the capacities, according to the characteristics of each hotel unit - indoor and outdoor spaces, number of pools available, etc.
