Major heroin bust in Madeira

The Judiciary Police announced today it had dismantled "a relevant chain" of drug supply to the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

PJ police said that they had detained a woman in possession of 10 kilograms of heroin, the biggest apprehension of this drug in the archipelago.

The “Operation Pico Ruivo”, carried out by the Judicial Police (PJ) through the Department of Criminal Investigation of Madeira and launched last weekend, after a four-month investigation.

In a statement police said that a 55-year-old woman, resident in Lisbon area, was arrested due to “possession of about 10 kilos of heroin, moments after having landed at Madeira Airport".
