According to the Vila Real District Operations and Relief Command (CDOS), the alert for the forest fire in Vila Real district was given at 13:36.
By 15:45 the fire was fighting about 117 firefighters from various corporations in the district, supported by 29 vehicles and four air assets, the same source added.
A source from the Valpaços Municipal Civil Protection Service explained that strong wind and poor visibility is complicating the fight against flames.
