The National Maritime Authority has reemphasised a warning to the entire population of the precautions to be taken when going to the beach following a string of serious incidents in recent days.

The authority said care is especially relevant at this time of very hot weather, where the beaches are still unattended and when there has been a high number of rescues.

Since last Saturday, May 23, 65 rescues were recorded on mainland Portugal; one man drowned and another is missing at sea following an incident on Tuesday in Prainha, in Alvor.
