The ‘new’ Cascade Wellness Resort has officially opened after two years of works which have seen the expansion and renewal of its infrastructure and services.

The resort now offers its guests a vast array of facilities: a hotel with 108 rooms and suites (with generous areas of about 45m2), 58 apartments and 4 villas; 3 restaurants and 2 bars; 3 swimming pools, one of them with sand; meeting rooms with a capacity for 500 people, including a multipurpose room of 350 m2; and a kids club.

With a clear focus on the wellness component, the resort also has a spa with 5 treatment rooms and a heated pool, a gym with a full range of state-of-the-art equipment and 2 tennis courts. The 2 football pitches, which meet FIFA standards, are one of the reasons why the Cascade Wellness Resort continues to distinguish itself.

The hotel comprises 5 individually decorated wings, each reflecting the Portuguese navigators’ expeditions across 4 continents - Europe, Africa, Asia and South America - and the new Portugal wing, where it all began.

In order to respond to the growing demand by families and groups for holidays, or for sporting and corporate events, a comprehensive investment project has been carried out over the past two years, totalling €7 million. Part of this figure was the subject of an application for Portugal 2020, which was approved for funding.

The investment included the expansion of the hotel’s accommodation, increasing its capacity from 86 to 108 rooms and suites. For this purpose, not only was the European wing enlarged, but the new Portugal wing was also built, with spacious balconies facing the pool and the Atlantic.

At the same time, the Cascade Wellness Resort also renovated its villas and apartments, updating all of the interiors.

The resort’s common areas and restaurants and bars have also benefited from an intervention that has made it possible to increase catering capacity, redefine gastronomic concepts and completely renovate the decoration of spaces and furniture. The restaurant offering now includes a fine dining space with sophisticated decoration, a Portuguese brewery, a space dedicated to themed buffet dinners and a bar that offers a wide variety of cocktails.

The resort’s spa has also undergone a refurbishment in which the interiors have been renovated and a range of state-of-the-art equipment has been added.
