Nine districts are today on a yellow weather warning because of the heat, a situation that will last until 8pm tomorrow night, according to the Portuguese Met Office (IPMA).

The IPMA has placed the districts of Braga, Bragança, Guarda, Vila Real, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Viseu, Évora and Beja under yellow warning due to persistent high temperatures.

Thermometers in the Algarve are expected to peak at around 30 degrees Celcius today and tomorrow, before rising a few degrees for the weekend.
