"This week, e-VISA, the new platform of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aimed at simplifying the procedures for visa applications, came into operation; with the introduction of e-VISA, visa applications and the sending of the necessary documents for the order processing can now be done electronically ", reads a press release distributed by the MNE.

Visa applicants "receive a personal access code that allows online monitoring of the process, divided into four phases", which are the registered application, under analysis, granted or rejected and, finally, the visa issued, with the evolution of this platform it is foreseen to implement possibility of paying the administrative fee.

"The e-VISA platform is one of the new features of the New Consular Management Model of the MNE and continues the effort to digitize the entire document processing of visa applications. This measure contributes to the operationalisation of the National Plan for Implementation of the Global Compact of Migrations (Resolution of the Council of Ministers no. 141/2019, approved on 20 August), it is also added in the communiqué on this new functionality, available on the Portal of Communities and on the Visa Portal in Portuguese, English, French, Ukrainian and Russian.
