The interventions will be carried out in the areas of foodstuffs, processed seafood and fish, to give greater functionality to those who exercise commercial activity there and make the space more pleasant for the public.

“Improvements will be made to ventilation, lighting and soundproofing, as well as occasional repairs to stalls and paintings. It is also planned to minimize obstacles to accessibility, as well as the preparation of space for the placement of ATM equipment”, describes a press release from the chamber.

The Costa Nova Market attracts a high number of tourists and residents in the region, mainly due to the tradition of selling fish and seafood, whose trade in stalls complements the income of some families of local fishermen.

The aesthetic aspect of the premises and the exterior of the building will also be taken care of, “namely with the subsequent placement of panels alluding to the landscape of Costa Nova and with the placement of lettering that identifies the Municipal Market of Costa Nova”.

“The Ílhavo City Council understands that this is an important step towards improving the conditions of the Costa Nova Market, thanking everyone for their understanding of the possible inconvenience caused in the execution of the works”, says the press release.
